Chatty and cute, Highway is an older gentleman who has beautiful eyes that cross a bit and a love for squeaking “hellos” at everyone he meets. He doesn’t let his visual impairment get him down. While Highway looks soft and “pet-able,” he came to us wary of being touched. And because he has diabetes, his caregivers had to be creative: They wrapped him like a burrito to give him his shots (they called it a “purrito”). Now, Highway simply munches on a meal while getting his insulin shots, and he really enjoys getting brushed. Talk about progress! This talkative statesman is always up for the next adventure.
